Thin skin, iLace, or hybrid base: which one fits the crown

A thin skin base sits close to the scalp like a second skin, secure but it breathes less over larger areas. An iLace base is extremely light and lets the scalp show through exactly where a part would fall, though the knots need more careful upkeep. Bloom’s hybrid base uses thin skin along the edges for hold and comfort, and iLace at the center for a part that opens naturally. If your thinning is concentrated at the crown and you want to part your hair freely, the hybrid base sits right between the two systems.

Maintenance

Bloom lasts 6 to 12 months with daily wear, depending on hair quality and how you care for it. Wash the hair every 7 to 10 wears with a sulfate-free shampoo, use a light conditioner on the lengths only, and avoid rubbing the base itself.
