How the base is built
The perimeter is thin skin — polyurethane, transparent, sits flat against the scalp and bonds with tape. That’s what keeps the system in place through a workout, a swim, a night’s sleep. It doesn’t shift. It doesn’t lift at the edges.
The center is French lace. Much lighter, fully breathable — you feel air moving through it. The hair in the lace center looks like it’s growing directly from your scalp because when the lace lies flat against skin, it essentially disappears.
Every hair is hand-tied into the base one at a time. The angle matters — a hair tied at the wrong angle catches the light differently and looks wrong within a week. Getting the direction right across a full base is skilled work, and the people who do it well are paid more because of it. That’s how we’ve built systems since we started.
Choosing your options
Length
12 inches (30 cm) reaches the shoulders. 18 inches (45 cm) falls well past them. Pick a little longer than your target — you can always cut it in, and a good stylist with hair system experience can blend it so it looks like it grew that way. You can’t un-cut it.
Color
Match to the hair at your nape or behind your ears, not the crown — thinning at the top often changes the tone up there. Colors with a surcharge are specialist shades or specific European hair origins that take more work to source.
Wave
Straight and slightly wavy are the most flexible — you can style them any direction. Wavy, curly, and very curly are set in production and hold their pattern. If you want curl you can achieve at home with heat, go straight and curl it yourself. If you want consistent curl without the effort, order it in.
Density
Medium is right for most people — it blends without looking like a wig. High is there for significant loss where you need more coverage. Low is for fine surrounding hair where a medium density would look noticeably thicker at the transition.

If the color’s off or something doesn’t look right, we sort it out before it goes. You will never open a box and be surprised by what’s inside.
Most hair system companies don’t do this. For us it’s non-negotiable — you can’t try a hair system on before you order, so the least we can do is show you exactly what you’re getting.

Things people ask before they order
Can I actually tie it back at 12 inches?
Yes, for a low ponytail or half-up. For a high ponytail or long braid, 14–16 inches gives you more to work with. When in doubt, go longer — it’s easier to cut than to regret.
I’m a man. Is this going to look like a women’s product?
No. The base, the construction, and the hair are the same regardless. Long hair on a man looks like long hair on a man. The system doesn’t have a gender — the style does, and that’s entirely up to you.
Can I sleep in it?
Yes. The tape bond is designed for continuous wear. Men and women both do it — it holds overnight without issue. If you’re wearing it 24/7, change your tape a bit more often and comb it out gently when you wake up.
Can I color or highlight it?
Yes. It’s human hair — color takes the same way it does on your own hair. Go to a stylist who’s worked with hair systems before, because the base should not be exposed to bleach or harsh chemicals directly.
Will people be able to tell?
With the right color match and a proper bond, no. The skin perimeter disappears against the scalp. The lace center is undetectable at normal distance. What people notice is that your hair looks good — not that you’re wearing something.
How long does shipping take?
The Mane is in stock. It ships the same day, free, to anywhere in the world. You’ll get a tracking number as soon as it leaves our warehouse.
What if the color doesn’t match?
You’ll see the actual unit on video before it ships. If it’s not right, we fix it before it goes out. This is not something you find out when the box arrives.
Can I get it in a custom size?

Taking care of it
Declared lifespan is 4–8 months. Most clients reach 12 months or more if they keep up with the basics.
- Washing: sulfate-free shampoo, lukewarm water — squeeze gently, never scrub
- Drying: air dry or low-heat with a heat protectant
- Combing: start at the ends, work upward, wide-tooth comb or soft brush
- Tape: replace every 2–4 weeks — more often in heat or with heavy physical activity
- Storage: mannequin head or a silk-lined box when you’re not wearing it
